When live-together recording makes sense
Live capture pays off when groove, dynamics and player interaction carry the song — rock, funk, jazz, a tight rhythm section. If every instrument must be surgically isolated for heavy editing later, consider overdubs instead; we will say so in contact.
Our live room is 28 m² with monitoring for up to 6 musicians at once. Larger line-ups mean grouped takes or extra hours.
Rates and a rough budget
Band studio time is €125; an eight-hour day block is €920 (prices include 21% VAT). Always budget drum setup, backline, soundcheck and at least three full takes per song plus one safety pass.

|---|---|---|
| Setup and soundcheck | 1.5–2 | Tuning and monitor mix included |

Setlist and tempo in advance
Send a setlist with BPM, key and structure. Mark songs that must be fully live versus drums-only live with guitars overdubbed later — that drives patching and headphone mixes.
Rehearse at home to click or a rough demo. The studio is a bad place to rewrite arrangements. For vocal parts, see prepare for a vocal session.
Gear: amps, drums and what to bring
Bring familiar guitars, bass, pedals and snare when you can. Say whether the drummer uses our kit or theirs and give sizes. We have 12 preamps and 48 patch points; extreme channel counts need a prior chat.
We place amps in-room or behind gobos depending on desired bleed. Describe the target sound (dry funk vs roomy rock) early so we do not pivot mid-session.
Day schedule and getting to De Pijp
Monday–Friday 10:00–20:00, Saturday 11:00–17:00. Closed Sunday.. We agree load-in time; From Vijzelgracht metro (line 52) it is about a 7-minute walk via Ferdinand Bolstraat to Maasstraat. Tram 4 (Stadhouderskade stop) is roughly 5 minutes on foot. On-street parking is limited; P+R or garages near Overtoom are easier.. Parking is tight in Amsterdam — do not lose setup time hunting a spot. Up to 8 guests in the studio; more people makes monitoring harder.
Typical order: drums and bass, rhythm guitars, leads and vocals last unless the song is vocal-led. Breaks every 90 minutes help everyone stay focused.
Takes, click and communication
We usually record to click or a guide unless you deliberately want free tempo. Count-offs and preroll are shared in every headphone. After each take: quick «again» or «next» — long debates cool the room.
If one part drags timing repeatedly, we fix it with shorter sections or overdubs instead of twenty full-band passes.
After the session: files, mix and rights
We deliver multitrack as quoted (format and folder layout in the offer). Internal archive 24 months. Mixing elsewhere? Read export stems for mixing so your engineer can import cleanly.
Band members sort rights among themselves; Magyaranzo B.V. provides studio services, not management. B2B invoices: 14-day payment term where applicable per terms. More in FAQ or contact.
